Classes

Studio 53 offers a range of professionally tutored workshops in drawing and painting, life drawing, portraiture, animation and photography. This programme of subjects will hopefully be expanded over time to include a great many more creative activities for you to try.


Our new drawing and painting workshops are planned to take place on either wednesday or friday mornings from 9.30-am-12.30 am. These sessions will begin with project directed study across a wide range of subject matter, including: still life, natural history/wildlife, landscape, portraiture and the figure. The final hour and a half of each session will give participants the opportunity to work from a live model, both clothed and nude, to further develop their understanding of the portrait and the figure.


The cost of the class will be £13.50 or £12 for students and members of Plain Arts Salisbury. This fee also includes refreshments and newsprint paper for you to work upon.


As a companion class to this we are also hoping to bring you a regular drop in evening class, working from a live model. This session will be essentially untutored but advice and input will be available at the midpoint and end of each session. These classes are an excellent opportunity to further develop your drawing, memory and observational skills. Repetition is one of the surest ways of improving your ability, and always remember, we have to get the bad drawings out before we can start producing the good ones!!!!


This class will cost £8 and run from 7pm- 9pm. Evening to be confirmed. Paper is provided in the fee.


Both of the classes above will be launched when we have enough interest and will only proceed weekly when we have reached our minimum class size.


It has always been our express aim to provide a high level of life drawing and painting opportunities on a consistent and regular basis in a creative studio environment. As artists, we both realise the fundamental importance of regular life drawing, and we are really committed to offering the best classes at affordable prices coupled with the highest standard of models, tuition and support.
